This picture is one of Donna-Rae’s “views from the back.”  Gregory had piloted six different motorcycles to as far north and south they could ride on the globe. Donna-Rae noted that only once did one of the motorcycles fall down, and that was when it was in a stream being photographed while they were on the bank.  The year on the road had taken a year to plan, then required some adjustment to accommodate weather, health and other demands.  They had reached their goal of riding to the ends of the earth.  Places they missed could possibly be returned to at a later time when political situations and weather had changed. 

     Now began the long ride home to Colorado, for Donna-Rae, and Montana, for Gregory.  As fall began they could start to slide back into their former lives as mother- grandmother, and writer-fisherman.  They would have 1,000’s of photographs to review, sort and file.  Souvenirs had to be unboxed and gifts sent off.  Gregory had to face the reality of writing deadlines.  Donna-Rae had to finish “Three Little Bugs.”  It was a busy fall ahead for both.  As they looked over their shoulders at the last nearly 50,000 kilometers of roads they had covered it had been, as Gregory wrote, “a long, strange ride” around the world.
