One night Donna-Rae wanted to see why Buenos Aires was called a “tango crazy” city. They spent several hours watching one of the local tango shows. She marveled at the technique and energy put into the Argentine dance style. Donna-Rae had been a dancer in her pre-Parkinson’s Disease life so could relate to and appreciate the difficult routines. Greg, a slowly aging and worn motorcyclist with arthritic knees, elbows, wrists and numerous mended bones, moaned and groaned loudly while watching the limber couples do what he said, “only a rubber person on drugs could do.”
Donna-Rae and Greg reached their furthest point east and north on the eastern ride up the coast of Argentina near Tigre outside of Buenos Aires. The odometer on the motorcycle showed the mileage on the South American leg of their around the world journey has been over 9,000 miles.
Finally decisions were made on a flight to Cape Town, which printer Donna-Rae felt most comfortable with and where and how Greg could stash his motorcycle and stealth out of Argentina. The next destination point for the two-wheel travelers was the southernmost point of Africa, Cape Agulhaus. While riding through the Dark Continent Donna-Rae hoped to safari by motorcycle while capturing images in her camera. Greg hoped to stay away from snakes, sharks, and more watching of tango-like dancing. He said, “I’m not a dancer, I’m a biker.” Donna-Rae answered, “If you sell the motorcycle while we are here in Buenos Aires you’re just like the rest of us, not a biker but a hiker.”
